Keyu’s work investigated the application of new technologies to the problem of disaster relief. He developed a system called Sensespace for creating temporary shelters that accommodated the psychological needs of children . The system is built using cardboard elements that are cut and pre-assembled into modules that can be used by communities to create spaces for play, learning, and human interaction. The community is empowered to shape their own environment. Their non-linear morphology creates fluid and variable spatial conditions. Keyu worked with digital modelling and laser-cutting to build testable prototypes.
