Super-Kamiokande

The Super-Kamiokande is a Neutrino Detector deep under a mountain in Gifu, Japan. Neutrinos emitted by the sun pass right through the planet, and a neutrino detector records them as they do. There’s a gallery of pictures here. If you like this kind of thing, you might also like the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland, and Mexico’s Cave of Crystal Giants.
